TÜRKİYE’NİN EN KAPSAMLI SOKAK HAYVANLARI YUVASI KURULUYOR
İzmir’in Sakin Şehir ünvanlı ilçesi Seferihisar’da belediye Türkiye’nin en kapsamlı Sokak Hayvanları Yuvası’nı yapıyor. 20 dönüm arazi üzerine yapımına başlanan tesis, sokak hayvanlarını korumak ve onlara yuva sağlamak hedefiyle kuruldu. Seferihisar’ın hemen yanı başındaki bu yuvayı sıradan bir barınaktan ayıran üç ana özellik olacak. Bunlardan birincisi hayvanların özgürce ve aileleriyle birlikte yaşayacakları 10 dönümlük bir serbest alana sahip olması. Hayvanlar özgürce ve doğanın içinde yaşayacakları bu alanda yaşamlarını huzur içinde geçirebilecek. Yuvanın diğer bir özelliği ise bölgede yaşayan insanların buraya gelerek hayvanların bakımına gönüllü olarak katılabilmesi olacak. Yani burası hayvanların hapis ve tecrit edildiği bir yer değil, tersine, insanlarla buluştuğu bir yuva. Öyle ki, yuvanın içinde gönüllülerin konaklayabileceği altı odalı bir de misafirhane de planlandı. Seferihisar Belediyesi, sokak hayvanları yuvası gönüllü ağının kurulmasını Seferihisar Hayvanları Koruma Derneği ile birlikte gerçekleştirecek. Yuvanın üçüncü önemli özelliği ise içinde yaralı ve cerrahi müdahaleye muhtaç hayvanlar için bir de hastane yer alması. Tam teşekküllü bu yapının yanında, sert mizaçlı köpekler, yavrular ve hastalar için de ayrılmış özel alanlar mevcut.
Seferihisar Belediyesi yaklaşık Bir Milyon Liraya mal olacak yuvanın %70’ini tamamladı. Geri kalan kısmını ise hayvan severlerle birlikte yapacak. Seferihisar Belediyesi tarafından açılacak hesaplara yapılacak bağışlarla, Türkiye’nin en kapsamlı Sokak Hayvanları Yuvası tamamlanmış olacak.

YUVAYA PROF.DR. İSMET SUNGURBEY ADI VERİLECEK
Seferihisar Belediye Başkanı Tunç Soyer, yapılmakta olan yuvaya Türkiye’nin en önemli hayvan hakları aktivistlerinden biri olan Prof Dr. İsmet Sungurbey’in adının verileceğini açıkladı. Soyer; “Prof. Dr İsmet Sungurbey’in hayvan hakları üzerine kitapları var ve Türkiye’nin ilk hayvan hakları kanunu taslağını kaleme alan kişi. Prof. Sungurbey, yıllar önce İstanbul Belediyesi’nin sokak hayvanlarını presle öldürme projesine karşı açlık grevine girerek bu girişimi durdurmuştu. Bu nedenle Seferihisar’daki Sokak hayvanları yuvasına kendisine ithaf etmek istedik” dedi.
