Seferihisar’ın meşhur satsuma mandalinası önümüzdeki haftalarda hasat edilmeye başlanacak. Seferihisar Tarımsal Kalkınma Kooperatifi (SEFEKO) Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Ahmet Sayarer, iklim şartları nedeniyle geçen yıla göre rekoltede yüzde 50 azalma olduğunu gözlemlediklerini söyledi.
Satsuma mandalinanın ihracat merkezi olan İzmir Seferihisar’da verimin, bir önceki yıla göre yüzde 50 daha az olduğu ifade edildi. SEFEKO Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Ahmet Sayarer, normalde 5 bin ton ürünü piyasaya sürerken, bu yıl bölgede daha az ürün elde edileceğini söyledi. Her yıl kooperatifin işletmesi üzerinden tonlarca mandalinayı iç ve dış piyasaya sürdüklerini ancak bu yıl işletmeye kilit vurduklarını kaydeden Sayarer, “Satsuma mandalina, 15 Ekim’den itibaren piyasaya giriyor. Bu sene ürünümüz hemen hemen yüzde 50 eksik. Küresel ısınma diye çok dile getirilen bir durum var. Bir yıl çok iyi üretim yaparken bir yıl çok eksik ürün oluyor. Bu yıl ‘yok yılı’ndayız. Bu yıl işletmemizi de açmıyoruz. Burada yüzlerce insan çalışıyordu. Çok ciddi ürünümüz oluyordu. Bizim 68 üreticimiz olmasına rağmen ürünümüz bu yıl neredeyse sadece 600 ton civarında olabilir. Biz burayı açıp işçiyi getirdiğimizde yıllık 2 milyon lira giderimiz oluyor. Öyle olunca piyasada 5 liradan aşağıya ürün satmamamız gerekir. Şu anda piyasada satılan ürün 3 lira olursa biz bunun altından nasıl kalkarız? Bu yüzden bu yıl burayı açmayacağız. Biz burada normalde 5 bin ton üretim yapıyorduk. Ancak şu an ürün eksik. Üreticiler, piyasada ürün talebi olduğu için ürünlerini bireysel olarak satabilirler ancak biz bu yıl kooperatif üzerinden çalışmayacağız” ifadelerini kullandı.
“7-8 liraya satılması gerek”
Üreticinin piyasa talep ettiği kadar tüccarın da ürün talep ettiğini dile getiren Sayarer, “Ancak gel gelelim piyasada en ucuz giden ürün mandalina. Erkenci mandalina şu an 3 liraya satılıyor. Piyasa durgun. Tüccar da piyasaya nasıl girecek, nasıl alacak, kaça satacak diye korkuyor. Şu an ülkede en ucuz meyve mandalina. Biz bir türlü piyasada hakkımız olan yeri alamıyoruz. Satsuma bu yıl az olduğu için normalde daha yüksek fiyatlı olması gerekir fakat piyasada ne olursa olsun yeterli rakamı bulamıyoruz. Her yıl olduğu gibi bu yıl da en ucuz meyve mandalina olacak gibi duruyor. Piyasadaki ürünlere bakarsak 7-8 liradan aşağıda meyve yok. Mandalina ise 3 lira, 3,5 lira. Bu yıl üreticinin cebine 3 lira girmesi için tüketicinin satsumayı 7-8 liradan aşağıya yememesi lazım. Girdi maliyetleri de eklenince üretici şaşırıyor” sözlerine yer verdi.
“5 aylık saltanatımız 1,5 aya düştü”
Satsuma mandalinadan önce hasat edilen erkenci mandalinaların az da olsa ilçede de üretildiğini söyleyen Sayarer, şöyle konuştu:
“Eskiden satsuma mandalinamızın piyasada 5 aylık bir saltanatı vardı ancak birinci erkenci, ikinci erkenci ve geçci mandalinalar piyasaya girince 5 aylık saltanatımız 1,5 aya düştü. Bu yüzden pazar darlığı çekiyoruz. Seferihisar’da da bir süredir erkenci mandalina ekilmeye başlandı ancak bu oran, satsuma mandalinayı etkileyecek oranda değil. Seferihisar’da şu anda 300 ton civarında erkenci mandalina var. Üretici devamlı arayış içerisinde. Yeni çıkan her ırkı uyguluyor, piyasada ne kadar pay bulabilir diye merak ediyor. İlçemizde de erkenci mandalinalar ekildi ve üretici de kendine göre bir pazar buldu. Satsuma, hemen üretime girmeyeceği için üreticiler bu boş dönemi erkencilerle geçirmeye çalışıyor. Ayrıca ocak ayında da geçciler devreye girecek.”
Tangerine’s “no year” is this year
Seferihisar’s famous satsuma mandarin will begin to be harvested in the coming weeks. Ahmet Sayarer, Chairman of the Board of Seferihisar Agricultural Development Cooperative (SEFEKO), said that they observed a 50 percent decrease in yield compared to last year due to climatic conditions.
It was stated that the yield in İzmir Seferihisar, which is the export center of Satsuma tangerine, is 50 percent less than the previous year. SEFEKO Chairman of the Board Ahmet Sayarer said that while normally 5 thousand tons of products are put on the market, less products will be obtained in the region this year. Noting that they put tons of tangerines on the domestic and foreign markets every year through the operation of the cooperative, Sayarer said, “Satsuma tangerine enters the market as of October 15th. Our product is almost 50 percent missing this year. There is a thing called global warming. While producing very well in one year, there is very little product in another year. This year we are in the ‘no year’. We are not opening our business this year either. Hundreds of people worked here. We had a very serious product. Although we have 68 producers, our product may be almost only 600 tons this year. When we open this place and bring in the worker, we have an annual expense of 2 million lira. Therefore, we should not sell products below 5 liras in the market. If the product currently sold in the market is 3 liras, how can we handle it? That’s why we won’t be opening this place this year. We were normally producing 5 thousand tons here. However, the product is currently missing. Producers can sell their products individually as there is product demand in the market, but we will not work through cooperatives this year.”
“It should be sold for 7-8 liras”
Sayarer, who stated that the producer demands products as much as the market demands, said, “But let’s come to the market, the cheapest product in the market is tangerine. Early mandarin is currently on sale for 3 liras. The market is stagnant. The trader is also afraid of how he will enter the market, how he will buy, how much he will sell. Currently the cheapest fruit in the country is tangerines. We can never take our rightful place in the market. Since Satsuma is scarce this year, it should normally be priced higher, but we can’t find enough numbers on the market no matter what. As every year, it seems that the cheapest fruit will be tangerines this year. If we look at the products in the market, there is no fruit below 7-8 liras. Tangerines are 3 liras, 3.5 liras. This year, the consumer should not eat satsuma for less than 7-8 liras in order to get 3 liras into the producer’s pocket. When the input costs are added, the manufacturer is surprised”.
“Our 5-month reign has fallen to 1.5 months”
Sayarer said that the early mandarins harvested before the Satsuma tangerines are also produced in the district, albeit a small amount.
“In the past, our satsuma tangerine had a reign of 5 months in the market, but when the first early, second early and late tangerines entered the market, our 5-month reign decreased to 1.5 months. That’s why we’re short of the market. Early mandarins have been planted in Seferihisar for a while, but this rate is not at a rate that will affect satsuma tangerines. Currently, there are around 300 tons of early tangerines in Seferihisar. The manufacturer is always in search. He practices every newly released breed, wondering how much share he can find in the market. Early mandarins were planted in our district and the producer found a market for himself. Since Satsuma will not go into production immediately, producers are trying to spend this idle period with early growers. Also, in January, the late movers will come into play.”
